A.)

Overview

Operation Pills are available in multiple modules within StartProto, and they all serve the same purpose of providing the user with a quick overview of the production status of an item. These Pills also offer the added benefit of allowing the user to easily navigate to review, create, and modify sessions for any particular stage of production.

1.) How Are Pills Created?

Pills correspond directly to the routing/BOM created for an item. They replicate the flow and order. The amounts shown in pills represent the quantity at active stages of production.

2.) Breakdown

2.1) Pill Description

The Operation displayed within the pill directly correlates to the name of the Operating step within the Item’s routing/BOM. It can edited within the item details.

2.2) Available Items

The blue pill end indicates that a particular operation has the ability to begin and the item has met its material or pre-op requirements. The number indicates the amount of an item that is ready to start.

2.3) Active Items

The green pill end indicates that a particular operation is currently active and running. The number indicates the amount of an item that is scheduled to be produced by the associated session.

2.3) Item Is Held

The purple pill end indicates the amount of an item that is being held for operational or logistic reasons. This includes The item waiting on a required material to begin the next operation, outside processing, waiting on another input make item or a routing stage that was removed while still having an item in progress. This number is the the total of items ready and held.

The number displayed represents the total amount of a particular item that is currently held and available for use in the operation. The available amount will also be shown in the blue pill at the end of the operation. To find out the amount of held items, subtract the total (purple) from the available (blue).

B.) Related Work

When interacting with a Pill, users can access the Related Work pop-up. This shows all related sessions currently running for the selected operation and any possible sessions that can be started.

Accesses Related Work

  1. Navigate to any page that includes Operation Pills.

  2. Click on the desired Operation.

  3. Depending on available inventory, active sessions, or the ability to perform the operation, results in Related Work may vary.

  4. From Related Work, possible options include:

    1. Starting A Session (Planned/Unplanned)

    2. Navigating To An Active Session

    3. Starting, Stopping, Cycling An Active Session

    4. Reviewing Current Sessions

C.) Summary

Operation Pills in StartProto provide a quick overview of the work in progress status of an item and allow easy navigation to review, create, and modify sessions for any production stage.Pills correspond to the routing/BOM operations created for an item. The amounts shown in pills represent the quantity ready for and active at different production stages. Pills have different colors to indicate the status of an operation: blue for operations that are ready, green for active operations, and purple to represent the inventory status of WIP parts when the operation is blocked by other items.Users can interact with a Pill to access the Related Work pop-up, which shows all related sessions currently running for the selected operation and any possible sessions that can be started.
